My blood splattered guitar

I'm happy we played Warped, but incredibly sad at the same time! I have nothing to look forward to! Warped Tour was such a high everything else seems so little in comparison. Even preparing for it was a blast! And now...sigh. Let me tell you the full in-depth story viewed by me.

We arrived in Buffalo the night before and stayed in a Ramada Inn. We slept, woke up at 7 and got ready to check into the production office. Once we got our special purple wristbands we were in! At around 9ish we found out Kiev was playing at 3:25 on the Kevin Says Stage.

I must say it was really special to go backstage. We were around some of the coolest looking people. There was a huge tent where you could get food and water and shit. It seemed to be the hang out joint. You could see all the band members. New Found Glory's dude, Thursdays' dude, Taking Back Sundays' dude, and Yellowcards' dudes...I would be more excited if I actually knew their music but I'm not too familiar with those bands. The best part was being able to look at Benji from Good Charlotte and giving him the death stare. The stare of 'You pussy.' Each member of Kiev gave him the stare of doom. But I got the chance to trade a few kind words with the Drummer from MeLee. A fun band. Check them out.

The Performance: We get on stage and prepare to rock out. While we sound check a small crowd already forms. The crowd was mix between, people we knew, a few other bands, and random people. I think the most rewarding part was to see faces we never saw before! It was like 'Wow! People are taking time to listen! Sweet!’ We rocked hard for 20 min, so hard I cut my finger while playing. I never noticed it while I was performing but afterward Sylvie’s little sister pointed it out. I had blood all over my guitar, strings, forearm, hand, palm...everywhere. It was most righteous.

Afterwards people came up to talk to us. This woman named Gina asked if we wanted to play some clubs in NYC (knitting factory). A man from Santa Barbara named Beau said he was interested in working with us. This woman named Michelle said she was organizing a Vans Girls tour and might want to book us. So many people. I can't comprehend it. My minds going to blow up.

The most satisfying part of the whole thing was saying Thank you to Greg Graffen from Bad Religion. I was sitting next to Jim Catalano (The Ticket) and Greg stopped to say hello. Whoa. So cool.

Enough ranting...I forgot a TON of details...but my minds going to combust.

God I wrote a lot...yuck, I apologize.

Thank you for sharing you experiences at Warped! Sorry about your finger. Looks like you really suffered for art, but it sounds so holy. Fred R.
